What string tests and records are required when commissioning PV?

Short answer

Test and record each string using the BS EN 62446-1 PV array test report in MIS 3002 Appendix E: module type and quantity, design Voc and Isc, measured Voc and Isc with irradiance, polarity, insulation resistance from positive and negative to earth, earth continuity where fitted, isolator ratings and functional checks, and inverter make, serial and function.

  • Plus BS 7671 inspection/test of the AC side (IEC 60364-6 references on handover form).
  • Keep records for periodic verification; full maintenance visits add series resistance, Riso, PID tests and thermography.
