Is solar PV or battery installation notifiable building work?

Short answer

In England, yes whenever the work adds a new circuit, replaces a consumer unit or alters circuits in a special location, which covers most PV and battery installs. Notify through a Competent Person Scheme or building control before handover. MIS 3002 requires installers to agree in writing who notifies. Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland have separate regimes.
