Do I need an MCS-certified installer?
Short answer
For export payments under the Smart Export Guarantee, yes: the system and installer need MCS or equivalent certification, and SEG applies in Great Britain only. MCS certificates are issued within 10 working days of commissioning. Plug-in kits and self-installs cannot get one. Many loan schemes also expect MCS.
