Do I pay VAT on solar panels?
Short answer
No, not if they are installed in your home before 1 April 2027. Solar panels, cabling, inverter and installation are zero-rated across Great Britain and Northern Ireland from 1 May 2023 to 31 March 2027. After that the reduced 5% rate is due to apply. Kits you buy and fit yourself are standard-rated.
