Which tariffs make a home battery worth it?
Short answer
Batteries pay most on time-of-use tariffs with cheap overnight or off-peak windows. Checked 24 September 2026: Octopus Go charges about 8.6p from 00:30 to 05:30, EDF GoElectric 6.99p from 23:00 to 06:00, and Cosy about 13p in three daily windows, versus peak rates near 30-40p. Many EV tariffs need an electric car.
