Do I need MCS certification to get paid under the Smart Export Guarantee?
Short answer
Usually yes. For solar up to 50 kW, Ofgem says SEG applicants must show the installation and installer are certified - normally an MCS certificate, or an equivalent such as Flexi-Orb. Without it, suppliers are not obliged to pay you, although they may choose to. You also need a half-hourly export-capable smart meter.
