Can solar panels cause roof leaks, and what should I check?

Short answer

Well-installed panels should not leak: hooks sit under the tiles and the roof covering stays intact. Leaks usually come from cracked or lifted tiles, badly cut flashing, or fixings driven through the covering. Check the loft after heavy rain in the first year and report damp to the installer under the workmanship warranty.
