Do solar panels increase house value?
Short answer
Evidence suggests a modest premium for owned panels. A 2024 peer-reviewed study of about 5 million UK property records from Zoopla estimated a selling-price premium of 6 to 7%, with the most conservative method giving 3.5%. Leased rent-a-roof panels can do the opposite by complicating mortgages.
