E71-0 on a Haier Super Aqua R290 Hydro Split / Hydro All-in-One: Upper DC Fan Motor Abnormality

What it means

The manual says: Upper DC Fan Motor Abnormality.

When it shows: If the operation is below 20 rpm for 40 consecutive seconds or less than 20% of the target value, the fault will be reported for 2 consecutive minutes, and the fault will be resolved after 3 minutes. If it occurs 3 times in an hour, confirm the failure.

The heat pump stops until the fault clears or is reset.

Resetting itself: yes (until locked).

Manual reset: Locks out after repeated occurrences (see manual remark); engineer reset after the cause is fixed.

What you can check

• Note the code shown on the controller and the unit model numbers (on the rating plate label) before contacting your installer.
• Check the heat pump's breaker/isolator at the consumer unit is on; do not open any casing.
• Check the outdoor unit is not blocked by leaves, debris, snow or ice and that nothing is stored against the grilles.
• If the breaker or RCD trips repeatedly, leave the heat pump switched off and call an engineer; do not keep resetting it.

What the engineer will check

• Follow the manufacturer's troubleshooting flowchart for this code.
• Check fan for obstruction and free rotation (isolated).
• Check fan motor connector/wiring and drive board.

Certification: Heat pump installer competence; F-gas / flammable-refrigerant (R290/R32) handling competence for any refrigerant-circuit work.
