Which home batteries show error codes on the unit itself?
Short answer
Few show actual codes on the unit. The Fox ESS Evo shows fault names and BMS codes on its touchscreen, and Sunsynk and SolaX inverters show battery faults on their screens. Most batteries, including Tesla Powerwall 3, SigenStor, GivEnergy, Huawei LUNA, Pylontech and Fox EP/EQ, only use coloured lights; the detail is in the app. Checked 24 September 2026.

What does this mean?
Tesla Powerwall 3 has one logo light, Expansion units have none, and Backup Gateway 2 reports through the app. SigenStor has DC, AC, battery and communication lights, with numeric alarms in the mySigen app. AlphaESS SMILE-G3 batteries show a fault number in binary on their yellow lights.
What should I do first?
Record the code and current battery state before changing settings. Follow only the owner-safe reset steps in the manual.
When do I need an engineer?
Use an installer or manufacturer support route if the fault returns, involves isolation or protection, or the manual does not give an owner reset.
What to do next
If the system is hot, smoking, damaged or making unusual electrical noises, move away from it and follow the manufacturer emergency guidance.
