What do Tesla app alerts like 'Waiting for Solar', 'Breaker Open' or 'Side Switch Off' mean?

Short answer

Tesla Powerwall does not show numeric error codes to owners; the Tesla app shows named alerts. Some are status messages (Grid Outage, Storm Watch, Calibration in Progress), some need a simple owner action (Breaker Open, Side Switch Off, Powerwall Overloaded) and 'Service Required - Fault Detected' banners need the installer.

What does this mean?

Owner actions allowed by Tesla: switch the Powerwall breaker back on (not if heat damage); toggle the side switch; reduce loads when overloaded; restart via switch/app when sunny; Delay Calibration. Service alerts: 'Solar Production Limited' and 'Powerwall Disabled' (turn off enable switch and book replacement). Powerwall 3 LED: solid white normal, flashing white idle, off = off/sleep, flashing red = inverter fault.

What should I do first?

Record the code and current battery state before changing settings. Follow only the owner-safe reset steps in the manual.

When do I need an engineer?

Use an installer or manufacturer support route if the fault returns, involves isolation or protection, or the manual does not give an owner reset.

What to do next

If the system is hot, smoking, damaged or making unusual electrical noises, move away from it and follow the manufacturer emergency guidance.
