What does the red ALM light on my Pylontech battery mean?
Short answer
On Pylontech US-series batteries a flashing red ALM light is an alarm: a value is nearing its limit and the battery keeps working. A solid red ALM means protection: the battery management system has stopped charging or discharging. Temperature, current, voltage or low charge are the usual causes. Tell your installer. What does this mean?
Protection triggers (US5000): temperature above 60 C or below -10 C, current over 90 A, charge voltage above 54 V, discharge to 44.5 V Solid red with no charge/discharge at normal temperature may be permanent protection - distributor repair Buzzer plus all LEDs flashing: high-voltage protection (inverter settings/comms)
What should I do first?
Record the code and current battery state before changing settings. Follow only the owner-safe reset steps in the manual.
When do I need an engineer?
Use an installer or manufacturer support route if the fault returns, involves isolation or protection, or the manual does not give an owner reset.
What to do next
If the system is hot, smoking, damaged or making unusual electrical noises, move away from it and follow the manufacturer emergency guidance.
